Nelson Fletcher’s stage career began in 1967. As lead vocalist with the Hogline soul band, He toured Italy and also feaured on Radio One (UK). After leaving the Hogline he began working with Peter Stringfellow in the early 1970’s as a DJ in the club Cinderella Rockerfellas in Leeds. This is where Nelson was discovered by an agent working for the BBC. This event lead to him being asked to appear in the BBC’s The Good Old Days. The episode starred the late Charlie Williams and Bruce Forsyth.
After this Nelson trained as an actor and went on to work in Theatre, Film and Television. His first Television part came in Alan Bennett’s critically acclaimed Me I’m Afraid Of Virginia Woolf. While on Stage he toured with Theatre centre, Snap theatre company and M6 theatre company. Aswell as performing in Pantomime in England and Scotland.
One of his best performances as an actor came in the 1990’s, On stage in “Mr Sidney”, a one-man show about the life story of the Duke & Duchess of Windsor as seen by their loyal servant, the late Sidney Johnson. This was based on an idea by Nelson, in collaboration with writer and director David Foxton, and was performed in Leeds, Harrogate and London and featured on the BBC.
Television parts include The Bill, Coronation Street, Prime Suspect 2, City Central, Emmerdale Farm and Cracker.
Film work includes If Only, with Jennifer Love-Hewitt, Rita Sue & Bob Too, and Brothers & Sisters.
